Ranking and Uniforms
RANKING
Chow Wuyi Dao Modified Gung Fu (JKD)® awards Sash Ranks following the Shaolin Gung Fu tradition, in honour of the Chow (Zhou) Family's Southern China Martial Arts System influence.
It is important to know, however, that the Sash is considered a part of the traditional Gung Fu uniform, and does not always reflect the practitioner's place or rank within the system, or their abilities.
- Student: First & Second Rank Levels (White Sash)
- Disciple: Third - Sixth Rank Levels (Black Sash)
- Sifu: Seventh Rank Level (Black and Red Sash-must be at least 32 years of age)
Honourable Sifu: Black Sash (should be at least 35 years old, and / or an accomplished martial artist as determined by the re-establishing founder.)
Honourable Sigung: Red Sash (should be at least 55 years old, and / or an accomplished martial artist as determined by the re-establishing founder.)
(Although not traditionally Shaolin colours: "Black and Red Sash"; and the terms: "Sifu", and "Hon. Sifu" and "Hon. Sigung", were added in keeping with modern day changes and needs. The term "Master" is not used!)
All Ranks:
White, Blue or Black T-Shirt with Logo, Black Gung Fu Style Trousers, Training Shoes, with or without Sash.
For Tournaments: Gung Fu Uniforms (White, Black, or Combination of both colours) with Sash Rank.
