What is JKD (Jeet Kune Do)?

The Art and Discipline of JKD "Jeet Kune Do" (the Way of the Intercepting Fist) was developed by Sijo Bruce Lee, and given its name in 1967 (Los Angeles). It utilizes the primary elements of Wing Chun (Ving Tsun “Cantonese”) Gung-Fu, Western influenced Boxing body mechanics and movements, and French and Western influenced Fencing on-guard positioning and stop-hit techniques.

Sijo Lee utilised other elements such as: Western Style Wrestling (strangle holds, leg tackles), Judo and Jiu-Jitsu (joint locks, groundwork, chokes, leverage and balance), French Style Savate (purring kick) and muay Thai Boxing (hook kick, elbow and knee strikes and blocks), however, these elements were and still are by many pure JKD practitioners considered secondary, meaning not a part of "Original Jeet Kune Do".
